Around 6:40p Monday night, Bemidji witnessed a rather interesting, if not frightening celestial phenomenon…
There were unsurprisingly numerous reports of this bright flash and loud explosion that flooded into police. The Beltrami Sheriff press officer himself was one of the residents who experienced the boom.
“It shook windows, walls and rattled the dishes. My dog about broke the door down trying to get in who was outside at the time,” he said.
No substations or transformers seemed to have any damage in the area. While the department is still following up on the blast, the speculation is on a meteor.
